ABOUT
The Artist
Hi there, I'm Meg Wilde, an Alaskan based painter and digital artist. I am also a writer, world traveler, and open heart surgery survivor. Dog mom, mountaineer, drummer, and foodie. I am a lot of things, as are the themes of my illustrations; often as all over the place as my mind can be on any given day.
My work is an extension of this mental tug-of-war between the feminine and gothic, the childlike whimsy and the macabre, the poet and the painter, the ADHD and the tortured creative.
In 2021 I had open heart surgery amidst the pandemic and with this extended solitude and down time I took up digital art. After tracing one of my old paintings and revived it to a crisp-lined masterpiece I realized maybe it was good enough to reproduce and share. After I made about 15 designs and had fully recovered, the post Covid markets began again and I started vending at craft fairs and festivals in Alaska. The rest is history; I am now able to pursue this full-time thanks to those who encourage me every day and support my small business as I keep growing.
I am now more focused than ever to continue creating, with breaks during the slow season for inspiration via tackling a long list of international trips as I tick off some of the worlds tallest peaks and multi-day/week through-hikes as proof of my recovery, in all ways, found through the healing power of art and community.

The Art
Inspired by the bold outlines of Neo-Traditional Tattoo artwork and the brilliant colors that bring whimsy and joy to my paintings, I mix themes of the Divine Feminine, Cryptids and Creatures, Cottage Core, and whatever else comes out of this deranged and punny brain of mine.
I use an iPad with the ProCreate app to digitally remaster/retouch art that begins as a canvas painting. Once the painting is complete, I take a picture and get to the real work... Making it perfect! This painstaking process begins with tracing my original design and digitally resizing it for the formats in which I sell (5x7" - 8x10" - 11 X14") Once the coloring book-like line work for the illustration is done, it needs color. I use a similar palate of the original canvas along with inspiration available digitally.
Finally, a digital copy of my work is ready for reproduction. With no need to scan and retouch, I can print and save the file immediately.
I reproduce all Fine Art Prints and package all of my own reproductions in-house. I can control the quality, color, and amount this way to meet my needs and adjust as necessary.
All of my prints are made on Finestra brand, museum quality, organic cotton, fine art paper. I use an ink-tank large format printer with eco-friendly soy derived pigments to reduce the toxin output and plastic waste of conventional ink cartridges.
As much packaging as possible is recycled and biodegradable materials.
